Torey Jacques, holds both a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Cell and Molecular Biology from SF State. Since completing his degrees in 2015 and 2017, respectively, Professor Jacques has been an integral part of the SF State community. His commitment to education extends beyond the classroom, as he has actively participated in various programs aimed at promoting inclusivity and student success.

Professor Jacques has worked with various programs including, Mentoring Advisor for Promoting Inclusivity in Computing (PINC), Program Coordinator with Student Enrichment Opportunities (SEO), Student Training Core (STC) Team for SF Building Initiative Leading to Diversity (SF BUILD) and Biology lab instructor for the Post-Bac Program. He has also been involved at City College of San Francisco (CCSF) as the Metro STEM Coordinator and First-Year College Success lecturer since 2019.

While pursuing his master’s degree, Professor Jacques found that he had a true passion for education, more specifically, the student experience in education. Interacting with students at various stages of their academic journey has allowed him to gain valuable insights into their perspectives and become more proficient at engaging in student centered education and establishing classroom environments that foster growth and learning.

Teaching in the Pre-Health Post-Bac Program has been a highlight of Professor Jacques’ career. Here, he has honed his unique teaching style and formed lasting friendships with former students and colleagues. He remains committed to the program’s mission and takes pride in celebrating the successes of his former students. He credits students, especially post-bac students, for teaching him that “success is what we make it.”

When not on campus, Professor Jacques enjoys family time. He is a father of two daughters and a grandfather to twin granddaughters! He plays golf and collects and enjoys cigars. His true joy lies in helping young people discover their own paths to success, whatever that may mean for each of them.
