Ting Zhou (she/her/hers)
Ph.D.
Faculty Lecturer
Ting Zhou earned her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science from the University of North Carolina (UNC). For her post-doctoral research, also at UNC, she chose to study the design of anti-HIV drugs. Professor Zhou joined SF State in 2014 and has taught extensively for both the Chemistry Department as well as the Post-Bac Program. Her experience includes courses like General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Professor Zhou uses both PowerPoint slides and the whiteboard while teaching. She gives pop quizzes in class as a way for students to not only earn points but also to gauge their grasp on the lecture material. She believes that students who stand out in class are those that have a passion for learning and a dedication to supplement their understanding. In that respect, Professor Zhou, considers post-bac students to be a strongly motivated and dedicated cohort of students. Their diverse backgrounds, increased maturity and curiosity challenge her to build in-depth coursework.
Outside of academia and her family, Professor Zhou prefers to play the accordion. Over time she has acquired three differently-sized accordions and considers them all to be her favorite.
