New Students
Create an SF State Login and follow the email instructions to set an SF State Password.
Register between January 16 and January 28:
To register before the first day of classes, follow these steps.
Select the classes that interest you.

- Use Advanced Class Search
- Select Term
- For Session select College of Professional & Global Education (CPaGE)
- Select Subject
- Under Course Number check Include Open University Classes
- Click the Advanced Search button
- Prerequisites: Check course prerequisites in the SF State Bulletin. See Prerequisites Policy.
- Course Restrictions: Check Spring 2024 Policies > Course Restrictions to make sure your course is eligible for Open University and early registration.
- Permission Numbers: Check Spring 2024 Policies > Permission Numbers Required during First Week of Classes to find out if the course requires a permission number from the instructor.
Complete the enrollment form.
Register January 29 through February 16:

February 5 - 20
- Attend the class or contact/email the instructor to obtain a permission number
